A scorching affair. A web of secrets. A different kind of love triangle.

Sometimes, the thing you want belongs to someone else...

Jack - Once upon a time I had everything. The perfect family. The perfect life. In one horrible year, it went away. I can never have it back but I can hurt the man responsible for taking what was left. I know how to steal something even more important from him. He doesn’t see how she looks at me instead of him. I can make her burn for me, make her addicted to me before I send her back.

And it will be so easy.

Tora - I’ll cross any line to get to the truth, no matter who I have to hurt. I don’t have a choice. I’m not afraid to use sex to get what I want. I know you think that makes me a whore. But until you understand what’s at stake, you can’t know.

Don’t judge me until you do.

Sometimes, you have to take what you want no matter what it costs.

When Jack met Tora she seemed like the perfect revenge. When Tora met Jack he seemed like the perfect diversion. But when their deep family secrets, dark intimate fantasies and shocking pasts collide, the result could only be torrid.

This is part one in a sizzling, sexy, hot new romantic suspense trilogy by Jayne Blue. Parts two and three are available now. It contains strong sexual content and is intended for mature readers.

I'm so tired of writers thinking they can write part of a book and then advertise it like it is a whole book. This was a lot of pages for nothing. There is no end in sight. The title says book one not part one which would be more accurate. Please beware!

Torrid A Romantic Suspense Novel Torrid Trilogy Book 1 edition by Jayne Blue Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Wowza! This book started a little slowly for me, but eventually it took off and then it just kept accelerating! It starts out at Jack's stepmother's Miranda's funeral, whom he has always hated. His stepbrother Seth (Miranda's son) has brought some really smokin' babe, Tora, along with him, who he introduces as his fiance. Seth is a total jerk of a man who has made his way through life on his mother's coat-tails. All the men at the funeral are quite taken with Tora, who is dressed in a sexy and tacky dress. It doesn't take Jack long to pick up on the fact that Tora really isn't into it when embraced by her fiance, Seth. And it doesn't take him very much time to move in on her for himself. Screw her, and screw his stepbrother at the same time, so to speak. As the story moves it becomes noticeable that Tora seems to have some kind of hidden agenda. And Jack, who still wants the things that belonged to his own mother's before she died, has his own agenda with Seth. Meanwhile Jack and Tora's secret relationship heats up as they get increasingly drawn to each other.
I don't do spoilers so that about as far as I can tell you. This book was definitely different. It was alot more than just a love triangle. Everyone wanted something other than the obvious but their secrets take a while to figure out. There is so much behind the story than appears at first look.
I do admit being a bit disappointed at a cliffhanger-type ending. Even though I knew there were more parts, I guess I thought this would be more of a complete story in and of itself. For that reason I deducted one star. But I think this has grabbed me in. I really want to know what happens next in this complicated plot and find myself headed for Book 2. A well-done, interesting read!
Torrid Book 1 (Torrid Trilogy, Book 1) by Jayne Blue
Tora is Seth’s fiancé. She is sexy but behind her eyes she hides many secrets. Jack notices Tora straight away and knows she is hiding something. He is intrigued by her. What starts out for Jack as a way of toying with his step brother Seth, soon turns to more. The deceased Mrs Manning seems to still be ruling from the grave. As the story progresses more lies and deceit unfolds. Jack is sizzling hot and successful in his own right. Seth is a selfish man who expects everyone to do his bidding. There is plenty of suspense; you will not want to put the book down. Character development is good and you will easily connect with them. This one has a plot like no other and I can’t wait to see how all the pieces will line up. Overall I am really enjoying this one.

I did not care for the way Tora constantly felt guilty (though you see it’s not so much from love) for cheating on Seth, but Jack never has those kinds of doubts. Double standards like that just drive me nuts. Tora should have enjoyed it a bit better, and maybe Jack could have felt a little remorse, if only because he doesn’t know the whole story. This part of their “relationship” really grated on me whenever it was touched upon. Otherwise, they make an enjoyable sort of couple. They have good chemistry as well, with enough stuff going around their lives to realistically be fighting the “I shouldn’t. I should. I shouldn’t!” self-thoughts.

As to the developing plot, it starts out well in the amount of details given then later discovered, but it felt like it took me a while to care for the two main characters. For a bit of the beginning I didn’t care if they all ended up in a horrible mess. But slowly they become more likable and I wanted them to get together in a happy way. But as you delve more into what's going on behind the scenes and in the past, you get hooked with wanting things to work out beyond the romance!

The alternating POVs are pretty good, they differ enough from each other so as to feel like two different people, and they don’t constantly rehash over the same scene with each POV. None of the other characters have too much substance to them though, except Seth. And he’s too easy to hate to really care about as more than just a foil to the couple. But as a guy you hate, he seems like he has considerable power in his own way to prevent these two characters from really getting together.
... To me, as a reader, I have found that books listed as PART ONE, are usually "Serial type books" of only a couple of chapters or a few pages (50-60).
BOOK ONE, IMHO, implies the first book in a "Series" ... a Series being full length Novels, not a tease of a few pages to suck you in and rip you off. With all the future books (in serials) you once again only get a few pages or couple of chapters costing you $30 by the time you've read them all, when they should have been ONE book at a reasonable cost.

I hate "SERIAL" type books with Cliffhangers!!! I'm done with both and will no longer purchase any further books from those authors!!
I'm so tired of writers thinking they can write part of a book and then advertise it like it is a whole book. This was a lot of pages for nothing. There is no end in sight. The title says book one not part one which would be more accurate. Please beware!
